Public Works Laborer's will have the opportunity to gain construction skills and hands on learning experiences while working with our Public Works Transportation Department. Our transportation summer students work alongside our Transportation Public Works Laborer and Supervisor to learn all lengths of maintaining our municipal lands including replacing street signs, patch work with asphalt, concrete work with curb cuts, mowing and weed whacking, clearing culverts from debris, and trimming trees to maintain green spaces along the New Maryland Highway. While building their skillsets on the day to day labor, learning key skillsets on how to maintain machinery to complete these tasks are also mentored. These placements encourage team work, along with problem solving, hands on skills that will give you an introduction to a career in construction. Candidates should be able to perform physical work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
