This job is in high-demand for students in this rural area with limited opportunity to obtain a 40 hour work week. We are looking for an energetic, caring, and nature loving instructor Assistant to support our summer day camps. This role works alongside lead instructors to help deliver safe, engaging and hands-on outdoor programming for children.

What you'll do:
- Support daily camp activities, games, and nature-based learning.
- Help supervise children and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
- Assist with set-up, clean up, transitions, and group management.
- Model respect for the land, peers, and self.

It is highly recommended that students sign up for the NB S.E.E.D. Program. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. and own CSA approved work boots. Opal Family Services is a not for profit, charitable organization that provides support and programs to families who have a child or adult dependent with an intellectual or physical disability. Summer students work collaboratively to design and deliver a day camp for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and their neurotypical peers, providing 1:1 support for campers who require this level of support. We pride ourselves on our creative, inclusive and supportive work environment. The community centre youth worker will work in collaboration with (hopefully) a Canada Summer Jobs employee and TCA volunteers on summer programming. This includes developing and running a day camp for elementary children 5-12, support summer TCA activities such as a family fun day, the Taymouth Market, the Taymouth Tigers ball field program, enhancement of Nature Trail, green space and building maintenance and repairs, yearly 5km roadside clean up, and will assist with event promotion and reporting through TCA social media. Creative ideas for additional programming welcome. Daily supervision and mentoring provided. Past youth employees have found the TCA a productive learning environment and work experience and an opportunity to learn about community resources and community building.

Supervising and planning a summer camp for children, many of whom are from economically challenged families and diverse cultural communities. Staff will ensure that children (new immigrants, recognized minorities, low income families, aboriginal, etc) are part of an inclusive program and have a positive experience. Staff will help the Children to feel empowered, a sense of belonging and improved self esteem.
