The summer events coordinator administers and promotes a 10-week artists in residence program out of the casemates in the historic Garrison District. This involves working with the artists to arrange logistics of moving in and out of the casemate; transfer of keys; signing of contracts; trouble shooting, etc. It also involves interviewing the artists to create interesting and grabby news releases and other information to promote the artists and their residencies.
The successful candidate will be familiar with social media and able to work relatively independently from home, as the FAA has no office space. Supervision will come from volunteer members of the FAA board. An interest in the arts is obviously helpful, and comfort with writing and being edited is essential. It is a position that offers an excellent opportunity to hone communication and interpersonal skills, which are important in almost all future work situations.
The FAA pays its summer student more than minimum wage.
