Upkeep and maintenance of the graveyard on the Nerepis road location between St. Augustine's church and the Holy Spirit Parish Rectory. St.
Augustine's cemetery has received historical status and has the attention of the local historical society. To this end, the up keep of all grounds
surrounding the graves, repairing grave sites, straightening and cleaning headstones are imperative. Our parish is made up of older volunteers who
can provide good supervision and guidance but the majority of the physical work will be done by the student. This will include the care and up keeping
of the sites and headstones as well as light physical work to enhance the presentation of the graveyard in general as well as mowing and trimming of
all shrubs and bushes. Because this is an historical location, if time permits the candidate would be researching historical aspects of the site and
recording findings. If time permits and weather dictates there will be light filing and office duties.

The Activity Assistant will work directly with the Therapeutic Recreation team and will assist in the planning, implementation, delivery and assessment of daily programs for our residents. They will also work with our Junior Volunteer Coordinator to provide oversight/leadership in the coordinating of Junior Volunteers participating throughout the facility. The Activity Assistant will be interacting daily with the residents in our nursing home on all units, supporting the Activity Directors in meeting the group and individual needs of our residents. The Activity Assistant will be involved in delivering programs that meet the social, recreational, spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the residents of York Care Centre.

The Maintenance Assistant will provide assistance to the Environmental Services Department in maintaining our facility and grounds, to ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor space for the 218 residents of York Care Centre. The scope of this position will include landscaping, lawn mowing, maintaining flower beds, assisting in setup of outside entertainment/concerts, painting, and other duties as required, etc. This position requires the individual to work independently and primarily outside. The student's ability to take initiative, work in team settings, and strong work ethic are characteristics that will ensure success in the role. Strong communication skills, multitasking and prioritizing and skills that will be enhanced through the mentor partnership with the student. This summer experience will prove to be mutually beneficial for the student, our organization, the community and most importantly, the residents of York Care Centre.

The Rehabilitative Assistant will provide assistance to our rehab department in providing rehabilitative services to the residents of York Care Centre. They will assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans designed to meet residents’ needs all while promoting resident autonomy. They will assist in the modification and adaptation of individual treatment plans in accordance with the residents’ status as established by the health care team of professionals. The role of the Rehab Assistant is to improve/maintain the residents’ physical wellbeing, and assist in the care planning, establishing goals and benchmarks for the resident.
