The Activity Aide assists the Activity Coordinator in planning and implementing therapeutic activities for residents with dementia in a nursing home setting. The role involves working one-on-one or in groups to help reduce isolation and confusion, especially during sundowning. Youth in this role will learn to develop programs that cater to residents’ emotional, spiritual, and relaxation needs. Responsibilities include safely transporting residents, adjusting activities for changing health conditions, and fostering communication with residents using dementia-specific techniques. Youth will also work closely with other healthcare professionals (RN, LPN, Dietitian) and families to ensure the well-being of residents. They will gain skills in teamwork, organization, safety, documentation, and nutrition. The role promotes a collaborative, supportive environment for both residents and staff.

The Rehab Aide works under the supervision of the LPN Rehab Assistant, with guidance from the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, and Director of Nursing. The role involves supporting rehabilitation programs, encouraging resident participation, and assisting in treatments to maximize independence and dignity. Duties include implementing treatment plans, such as positioning, mobilizing, and feeding, while adhering to All The Right Moves policies. The Aide participates in personalized rehabilitation programs, communicates progress with residents and families, and maintains equipment inventory. The role requires collaboration with the Maintenance department to ensure proper equipment functionality. The Aide learns interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and gains experience in health care and rehabilitation, while maintaining confidentiality.
