The NBRC is hiring two full-time law students for the Summer 2024 term. The law students’ responsibilities will include attending client intake meetings, completing work permit and study permit applications for refugee claimants and Protected Persons, assisting with the preparation of permanent residence applications for Protected Persons, conducting legal and country conditions research, attending mock hearings, and preparing evidence for refugee claim determination hearings. This is an excellent opportunity for law students who are passionate about access to justice, and who want to gain practical experience in refugee law. The law students will report to the NBRC’s Executive Director. The NBRC offers substantive training in refugee law and working with vulnerable clients. The NBRC provides bilingual legal services in English and French. Proficiency in other languages, particularly Spanish, Portuguese, Dari, Igbo, Yoruba, and Turkish, are a strong asset.
