Maintain and line ballfields, soccer fields and playing areas. Whipper snip parks and playgrounds and municipal community garden. Assist with trails maintenance and repair as needed. Water/weed municipal flower beds and planters. Maintain Athletic Park, Village playgrounds, and Village properties. Inspect playground equipment and park facilities daily. Maintain logs of work completed. Notify the Recreation Foreman of any necessary repairs. Operate common hand and power tools such as mowers, whipper snippers, etc. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Foreman. Must be capable of performing manual labour outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, ability to take direction.

Assist in planning and running an exciting, active and diverse nine-week summer day camp program. The Facilities and Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the sanctuary’s indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for animals, staff, and visitors. Duties include landscaping, repairing fences, maintaining animal shelters, and assisting with construction projects. The worker will also handle repairs and upkeep of indoor and outdoor facilities, tools, and equipment, ensuring all spaces meet safety and operational standards.

This position provides hands-on experience in problem-solving, teamwork, and time management while developing technical skills in construction, repairs, and maintenance. The worker will also gain knowledge of safety protocols, equipment use, and basic project planning, equipping them with transferable skills for careers in facilities management, construction, or operations.

The Communications Assistant plays a key role in supporting the sanctuary’s donor relations and community outreach efforts through clear and impactful communication. Responsibilities include drafting personalized donor acknowledgments, preparing engaging impact updates, and creating educational materials that highlight the sanctuary’s mission and work. The assistant will represent the sanctuary at community events, assist in fostering partnerships with local organizations, and contribute to the development of outreach campaigns and materials.

This position provides hands-on experience in written and oral communication, public engagement, and relationship-building. The assistant will develop skills in event coordination, content creation, and partnership development while gaining insight into effective messaging strategies and community outreach practices. These experiences will build a strong foundation for future roles in communications, public relations, or community engagement.
