RESPONSIBILITIES: Scanning of documents into the Town database; Organizing property files (both electronically and paper); Dealing with the public on the phone or at the counter; Helping clients complete building permit applications; Reviewing and assisting in drafting by-laws or amendments; Creating conceptual site plans or subdivision plans; Perform other related duties relating to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires persons able to work for several hours with minimal supervision. Students will be provided with the opportunity to work with GIS mobile data collection and development, GPS survey pick-up and layouts, civil engineering CAD files and site plans, and various other civil engineering and survey duties as may be required. A valid Driver's License is required.

Students interested in this position will likely pursue careers in Civil Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics Surveying, or cartography.

Depending on the assigned department and position, duties may include performing general labour tasks to support municipal operations in Water and Sewer, Roads and Grounds, Parks, and Sports Facilities. Responsibilities may include assisting with water and wastewater operations; working in and around lift stations; painting fire hydrants; performing traffic control; grass cutting, landscaping, and grounds maintenance; planting and maintaining flower beds and trees; watering and general park upkeep; changing garbage and maintaining public spaces. The student may assist with storm system repairs, shovelling asphalt, trail maintenance, and upkeep of playing fields, tracks, tennis courts, and other recreational facilities. Duties also include daily maintenance, inspections, and custodial tasks in comfort stations. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires the ability to perform physical labour safely and effectively as part of a team.

Under the direct supervision of the shelter manager, duties of the position will include: clean and disinfect indoor and outside kennels, cages, food and litter pans. Sweep and mop floors. Bike trail work technician is mainly responsible for building and maintaining an established MTB trail network located at the Dieppe Rotary Park. The tasks associated with the work requires manual labor work with wheel barrel, shovel, rake and rogue in transporting, spreading, grooming or digging dirt. The trail work technician will also be involved in preparing MTB race courses prior to events, weed or tree trimming, leaf blowing and other miscellaneous tasks as the need arises.
