Students will gain hands-on experience as hatchery and biological technicians. They will assist with fish husbandry, including feeding, tank cleaning, measuring water quality, weighing, grading, and caring for salmon fry, as well as stocking juvenile salmon. Students will support public education through guided hatchery tours and programs like Fish Friends. Field duties include smolt tracking, tagging, transport, and release using acoustic monitoring, fry stocking, striped bass research, cold-water habitat monitoring, invasive species management, electrofishing surveys, and water sampling. Weekend rotations and seasonal tasks provide diverse experience in fisheries research, conservation, and public outreach throughout the Miramichi watershed.

Students will assist Miramichi Salmon Association staff with smolt tracking, population assessments, and conservation programs for Atlantic salmon. Duties include collecting and sorting smolts, tagging, transport, and release, with downstream movements monitored via acoustic telemetry. In June, students help with fry stocking in natal streams. In July and August, they support cold-water habitat monitoring, electrofishing surveys, and juvenile assessments. Students also assist with educational programs such as First Cast and Fish Friends and serve as hatchery tour guides. This role provides hands-on experience in fisheries research, habitat conservation, and public outreach while contributing to salmon conservation in the Miramichi watershed.

1) Live in a cabin with 8-12 campers.
2) Assume responsibility for the health and welfare of campers entrusted into your care, with special attention to personal hygiene, health and safety; camper participation in camp activities; camper behavioral management; and cabin cleanliness.
3) Assume responsibility for building community in the cabin, with special attention to: building up self-worth of individuals; facilitating relationships between campers; and encouraging a high level of morale.
4) Lead camp activities with campers, ensuring an environment that is both safe and fun.

Day Camp Counsellors supervise and engage children in a safe, fun, and inclusive camp environment. They lead games, sports, arts and crafts, and group activities while promoting teamwork, positive behaviour, and camper well-being. Counsellors ensure camper safety, follow camp policies, communicate with staff and parents as needed, and serve as positive role models throughout the camp day.

The project assistant will be responsible for entering data collected during monitoring field trips into the organization's databases under the supervision of the environmental technician. They will also ensure the follow-up of project objectives regarding water quality and the monitoring of species at risk, such as the Maritime Ringlet butterfly and the Bank Swallow. The employee will have the opportunity to use and calibrate equipment such as a multi-parameter probe, a flow meter, and an anemometer. The project assistant will also have the opportunity to participate in environmental awareness through various means, including social media, the production of informative documents, and the organization of presentations and daily activities for youth at the La Barque summer camp, as well as presentations with booths at the regional eco-market.

This summer student position supports discipleship opportunities for children, youth, young adults, and families through faith-based programming and community connection. Working with the Summer Pastoral and Next Gen teams, the student will help create and implement a summer ministry plan, including preparing weekly Journey Kids Sunday lesson plans and assisting with weekly children’s ministry oversight and volunteer support.

The student will help equip others to serve, connect with new families, and assist in developing and leading family events and at least one Journey Kids Camp. They will also participate in youth and young adult ministry opportunities and be involved in the church’s Summer Leadership Team through Sunday services and weekly meetings.

The youth assistant will work closely with the youth director to create and implement engaging programs, events, and activities for our youth during the summer months. Responsibilities will include assisting in planning and organizing youth events, helping lead and facilitate discussions, workshops, and activities, and helping in the planning and gathering of supplies and materials needed for weekly programs and other special events.

The Children's Programming Assistant will work alongside the Children's director to provide programming for children in the church and community. Responsibilities will include organizing and executing programs, completing administrative tasks such as preparing music and visual presentations, managing registrations for summer camp and purchasing supplies for events, and working alongside of the Exceptional Ministries Team to assist in scheduling volunteer workers for children with special needs.
