The NBRC’s summer law students will assist the clinic’s staff in every part of the clinic’s operations, including: client intake meetings; refugee claim applications; preparation for refugee claim determination hearings; legal research; research on human rights and country conditions; applications for permanent residence; applications for work permits; and humanitarian and compassionate grounds applications. The summer law students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in immigration and refugee law, as well as developing the skills to work with vulnerable and culturally diverse clients. The NBRC is a bilingual workplace. Additional languages, particularly Spanish, Ukrainian, Dari, Arabic, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and Haitian Creole, are an asset.
