Position: Director's Assistant at Bar None Camp
Employer: Bridges of Canada (Bar None Camp)
Duration: (up to 12 weeks, until end of August)
Accommodation: Optional on-site stay
Eligibility: Must be a returning full-time student
Experience:

Salary: $17.75 - $20.00 per hour, 35 - 40 hours/week
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Director for camp program preparation, implementation, and supervision.
Oversee client guidance and safety, including knowledge of client whereabouts.
Manage emergency procedures like fire drills.
Organize and oversee group activities: swimming, cycling, canoeing, etc.
Daily supervision and operational support for staff and program partners.
Provide mentorship and training to team.
Document and report all incidents and worker compensation injuries.
Substitute for Director as needed.
Criminal/Vulnerable sector check required.

Responsibilities:
Be the primary cabin leader in your assigned cabin for the summer.
Be with your campers at all times, except when leading an activity/interest group/outdoor pursuit or on your break.
Lead activities/Interest Groups/Outdoor Pursuits as needed.
Follow the schedules given to you by the program staff.
Engage with your campers, get to know them, encourage them, inspire them, get them engaged in the activities.
Be at Cabin Leader meetings when scheduled.
Lead by example your Jr. Cabin Leader (LITs) for the week, give them opportunities to lead when possible.
Must be at campfire and vespers each evening unless excused by the Executive Director.

Organize recreation activities at a local community Hall Multi Generational. Work hand in hand with volunteers to put on events such as but not limited to Bingo, Pool, Lunch or Tea for Seniors, Childrens playgroups and activities, Live Music, Baseball Tournements, Card Tournements, Pet Show, Lawn Bowling, Washers, Horse Shoes, Car Show, Flea Market. Do social media posts, make and distribute posters. Be able to work independently and as part of a team. Maintenance of property lawns, gardens, fences. Cleaning and maintenance of the hall may include painting.
Aid seniors in technology operation, help set up emails, bank accounts ect on what ever they have for technology devices.
drivers license and car is an advantage, bilingual is an advantage, knowing how to operate lawn equipment is an advantage.
hours are a bit flexible but must be able to work Friday evenings till 11 and Saturday mornings till 1pm. Hours can be changed depending on events and will not always be the same.

The House/Program Assistant will support the physical, social, and emotional wellbeing of adults with intellectual disabilities ("core members"). The candidate may support core members at our homes and programs, McKim House, Creative Connections and L’Arche Connects.
At McKim House and through L’Arche Connects, the Assistant will assist core members as needed with daily activities, such as driving to work and appointments, preparing meals, cleaning the house, doing laundry and participating in leisure activities.
At Creative Connections, the Assistant will support the daily activities of the art studio and day program. This will include working on our garden program.
The Assistant is responsible to the House and Program Leaders.
The Assistant will participate in L'Arche community meetings and special events and help organize outings and celebrations. The Assistant will support core members with communication and emotional well-being, promote a welcoming atmosphere.
