Under the direction of the CD and the TA, Interns will assist TAs deliver orchestral instrument instruction in the Sistema NB program of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Inc. (“NBYO”) consistent with the mission, vision and values of the NBYO. Interns will work with Sistema NB TAs who transform the passion for their instrument into the motivation of their students. They will experience the impact and transformative power orchestral music has for children and youth, and the wider community served. Interns will be encouraged and supported to develop as a TA through one on one mentoring sessions and classroom support. Generally, to assist the TA providing group orchestral instrument instruction to classes of up to 20 in size, aged from 6 to 14, in Sistema NB’s free after school program.

Our local youth centre located in a low-income neighbourhood in the Campbellton Regional Community (Campbellton Sector) provides an opportunity for youth to participate in a variety of activities and experiences that they would not otherwise be able to take part in. Over the course of the summer, 8 camps (each with a different theme) will be held for children from 5 to 15 years old. The students will be responsible for preparing, coordinating and delivering quality, dynamic, safe and stimulating summer camps, encouraging participation and teamwork among the youth, supervising the proper development of the activity, greeting parents/guardians and responding to all questions and inquiries in a direct and polite manner, assisting other staff members, being responsible for the well-being and safety of the kids attending the camps, identifying and responding to the individual needs of each participant. The students will actively participate in outings, outdoor activities, and much more.
