Assist Community Garden Coordinator with all duties involved with a large community garden that consists of 108 above ground garden boxes and two large green houses that supply produce for a food bank. This includes planting, harvesting and weeding, working with large scale volunteers, garden maintenance, equipment management and composting. Assist community members with gardening practices, and documentation of produce harvested for the food bank.

Working in one of our four positions of grounds maintenance laborer, you will find yourself maintaining and lining the ballfields, soccer fields, and playing areas of our prominent, "Athletic Park". Whipper snipping parks and playgrounds and helping with the up keep of our municipal community garden. These four positions will also assist with trail maintenance and repair as needed. Water/weed municipal flower beds and planters along the New Maryland Highway. Inspect playground equipment and park facilities daily. Maintain logs of work completed. Notify the Recreation Foreman of any necessary repairs. Operate common hand and power tools such as mowers, whipper snippers, etc. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Foreman. University/college student capable of performing manual labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, ability to take direction, work well individually and as a team. First Aid/CPR and relevant safety training (i.e WHMIS) is an asset.

Assist in planning and running an exciting, active and diverse nine-week summer day camp program. Ensure that all games, activities, and crafts are designed to be safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate, which will contribute to the positive social, emotional, physical and mental growth of all day camp participants. Follow all the health and safety practices for a safe and fun camp experience. Committed to establish a caring, cooperative and friendly environment for all campers, fellow counsellors and counsellors in training. Follow all Village policies and procedures regarding safety, discipline and High 5 principles of childhood development. Day Camp Counsellors must have a valid CPR/First Aid Training and a vulnerable sector/criminal record check is required. Health and safety orientation will be provided as per the municipalities HR manual. Public Works Laborer's will have the opportunity to gain construction skills and hands on learning experiences while working with our Public Works Transportation Department. Our transportation summer students work alongside our Transportation Public Works Laborer and Supervisor to learn all lengths of maintaining our municipal lands including replacing street signs, patch work with asphalt, concrete work with curb cuts, mowing and weed whacking, clearing culverts from debris, and trimming trees to maintain green spaces along the New Maryland Highway. While building their skillsets on the day to day labor, learning key skillsets on how to maintain machinery to complete these tasks are also mentored. These placements encourage team work, along with problem solving, hands on skills that will give you an introduction to a career in construction. Candidates should be able to perform physical work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.

The Shop Mechanic will receive hands-on training in basic bicycle repair skills and will continue to build their technical knowledge throughout the summer. Working both independently and as part of a team, the Shop Mechanic will support La Bikery’s mission by repairing bicycles, assisting clients with hands-on repairs, and helping ensure the smooth operation of the workshop space.

This role is client-facing and community-oriented, requiring strong communication skills, an interest in cycling, and a commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The Membership & Marketing Director supports local economic development by helping strengthen the business community through Chamber growth, outreach, and engagement. This role focuses on attracting and supporting Chamber businesses, promoting the value of membership, and helping businesses connect with resources and opportunities that support their success.

Key duties include creating marketing and communications content for social media, newsletters, and the Chamber website, as well as supporting member engagement and event promotion. The student will also use membership and campaign data to track outreach efforts and support reporting and planning.

The tasks will include equipment maintenance, minor repairs, monthly checklist, stocking inventory control, removing garbage and responding to requests. May also include painting and floor waxing.

The Parks Maintenance Worker(s) will work with the staff of the Rural Community of Hanwell to assist in the maintenance of parks, trails, and all other green spaces throughout the community. They are to maintain the trail networks to ensure they are operating in a safe and desirable condition, which may involve digging, raking, shoveling, and hauling fill, etc. The Park Maintenance Worker(s) will also assist in the maintenance of flowers and shrubs, light landscaping such as grass trimming, staining, and painting various structures within our parks. The Parks Maintenance Worker(s) will report to the Director of Recreation & Parks. The Parks Maintenance Worker(s) must be familiar with using basic hand tools, be expected to work outside in adverse conditions, and must be able to receive instructions in a professional manner.
