The St. Mary's Community Food Forest is an initiative of St. Mary's Anglican Church to address food security in Devon by growing perennial foods that are available to anyone to harvest according to their need. This 0.6-acre food forest is entering its fifth year and includes apple, pear, plum, cherry, mulberry, heartnut, serviceberry and buffaloberry trees along with many fruiting shrubs and perennial vegetables.
The role of the Food Forest Gardener will be to engage visitors, create social media posts, maintain the food forest, and assist with food forest projects, events, and workshops. Typical activities may include planting, mulching, propagating, creating short educational videos, creating signage, hosting tours, engaging community members, building raised beds and propagation beds, lawn mowing, and helping with events.
